Graphics Card Crash With HD 6970

I obviously have the latest graphics card drivers. Hardware & Devices Crash/Restart, Possible Graphics Card Issue?Hi Guys, I wonder if anyone could help me. I know that the HD 69xx series introduces a new 4-wide shader architecture instead of the traditional 5-wide shader architecture used in past ATI cards and therefore requiring a driver rewrite, I also need to mention that I still have issues with freezing on start before loading CCC. navigate here

As for GPU-Z I guess it does just about everything on a gpu to probe it so obviously it would cause the crash reaction and there's no way to disable it. read the full info here

I have, however, tested the system with and without the overclock, and the problem occurs in both situations. Any help would be very much appreciated, as I have not managed to find a solution myself over a number of weeks. -Tom My specs: AMD Phenom ii x6 1100T @3.6GHz Reason: Typo TOXIC85 View Public Profile Find all posts by TOXIC85 (#2) Pill Monster Banned Videocard: 7950 Vapor-X 1100/1500 Processor: AMD FX-8320 @4.7 Mainboard: ASUS Sabertooth Last edited by TOXIC85; 12-02-2012 at 14:18.

Here are the issues that this could cause: AMD only offers beta OpenCL 1.0 support on HD 4xxx series GPUs. Then restart and install drivers off the cd if you want to play it safe or you can download drivers from amd directly to the most current release. That should tell us weather its hardware, or drivers.. Still haven't found a working version of driver sweeper.

It does seem that nvidia have the edge when it comes to BOINC crunching. ____________ My Top 5000 Primes: 110059!+1 is prime! (FPS) 14493618614235*2^666666-1 is prime! If APP driver not available for your card, then the ATI Stream SDK is needed. It happened the old fashioned way. Altough the card still sometimes drops back to 750 MHz, the majority of the time it was actually running 840.

I thought it was the card.

temps are fine, never above 48ºC while idling. Does it display the BIOS etc fine until it gets to Windows? I see you replaced the PSU with a much better one though..... and checking heatsink tension as well.

This user will probably get compute errors because such a driver would support CAL in the standard driver but not OpenCL, which requires an add-in OpenCL driver. The temperatures also remain acceptable, 60 degrees CPU max and 75 degrees GPU max. Tested with Far Cry 3 and it crashed instantly. My system seems to freeze up when ANY opencl "crunching" app is running and anything elses tries to use the gpu. Site Content Copyright Valve Corporation 1998-2015, All Rights Reserved. Ill see what happens, whish me luck!
